Uganda Project
In Uganda, there are nearly two million children who have been orphaned because of HIV/AIDS, war and disease.
In 2008 the Kain C+C Charitable Foundation launched its Uganda Project to help relieve the plight of these orphans. The Foundation sent its inaugural team to Uganda in August 2009, as part of the Uganda Project. Another team will travel to Uganda in August 2010 to:
- build a house for eight orphans in a small village near Kampala, Uganda’s capital;
- deploy over $80,000 of funds raised to organisations that support Ugandan orphans;
- work in two orphanages in Kampala; and
- donate items (such as clothes, books and toys) needed by children in those orphanages.
