Housing Legal Clinic and Hutt Street Centre
Every Monday morning, two lawyers from our team conduct a pro bono legal clinic at Hutt Street Centre, as part of the Welfare Rights Centre (SA) Inc.’s Housing Legal Clinic. Since starting the clinics at Hutt Street Centre in March 2007, our team has provided over $175,000 worth of pro bono legal services and seen almost 200 clients.
While our lawyers conduct the legal clinic, the non-legal members of our team volunteer with the team at Hutt Street Centre to provide administrative and other support. This support ranges from working in the kitchen and dining room to cook and serve meals, to helping with Hutt Street Centre’s events such as its Touch Wine festival. To date, our team has performed more than 240 hours of volunteer work (in addition to our legal work) at the Hutt Street Centre.
